MANORVILLE - Officials say one person is dead and one person was injured in a fire at a Manorville home that had been set for auction.

Six departments responded to the fire on Eastport Manor Road yesterday morning. Authorities say a woman and the family dog were killed in the fire. Charles Woolsey, a resident of the home, was treated for smoke inhalation.

Chopper 12 captured a message painted on the roof, which read, "We won't submit to your..." The rest of the words were unclear because part of the roof had collapsed.

Suffolk County officials say the homeowner hadn't paid his taxes in years, and that the house was set to go up for auction. Authorities say he was given an eviction notice and was set to appear in court today.

Neighbors referred to Woolsey as bizarre and crazy. Police and fire officials say they are not strangers to the property.
