Officer seriously injured in Long Beach crash

LONG BEACH - A Long Beach police officer was seriously injured early Monday morning after a driver allegedly ran a red light.

The incident happened at the intersection of Edwards Boulevard and Broadway at around 12:30 a.m.

News 12 has learned the 26-year-old officer broke several bones and had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. The other driver was not injured.
