OCEANSIDE - Family and friends of Lance Cpl. Greg Buckley, a Marine killed in Afghanistan last year, gathered to honor him during a street-renaming ceremony today.

Buckley and two other Marines were killed in an attack by an Afghan police officer on Aug. 10, 2012.

Greentree Drive in Oceanside will now be known as Lance Cpl. Gregory T. Buckley Drive as a tribute to the 21-year-old.

A duplicate street sign was presented to Buckley’s family.

A daylong block party was held after the ceremony. It was a celebration, Buckley’s friends say, that he would have enjoyed.
