HEMPSTEAD - An Oceanside mother is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the parent-teacher organization at her child's elementary school.Prosecutors say 44-year-old Cindy Sommer-Fleisig stole $5,000 from the Oceanside Elementary School PTA, where she's been a member for five years. That money was supposed to be used for the children and to throw the school's beloved principal a retirement party, prosecutors say. Investigators say Sommer-Fleisig had received check reimbursements for supplies and items she claimed she purchased, but never did. Other PTA members contacted authorities after noticing the missing funds in a review, prosecutors say. Sommer-Fleisig pleaded not guilty to third-degree grand larceny at her arraignment today. She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court on March 26.
