NORTH CAROLINA - President Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention included a thrilling moment for a Brentwood whiz kid who used to be homeless.
Obama referred to Brentwood High School student Samantha Garvey during his address. Garvey is the teen who overcame adversity, living in a homeless shelter and then making it to the prestigious Intel Science competition. Garvey and her family moved into a house in Bay Shore earlier this year.
