OCEAN PARKWAY - Two New York State Park Police officers were hurt Friday afternoon when their SUV was struck by an alleged drunken driver.

The officers were performing a routine traffic stop on Ocean Parkway at the time of the collision. News 12 Long Island has been told that a tan Saab slammed into the police vehicle, which caused it to flip three times.

The driver of the Saab, identified as Robert Pierro, is being charged with DWI and operating a cellphone while driving.

The officers were taken to Nassau University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and are expected to be OK.
