PARK SLOPE - Police are searching for the suspect who robbed and killed a Merrick man yesterday in Brooklyn.

Police say 67-year-old Jesus Morales was walking to his car on 18th Street in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, not far from where he worked as a travel agent. It was around 7 p.m. yesterday when an unknown suspect attacked and robbed him, then left him to die in the street.

Police say the suspect stole Morales' wallet and wedding ring.

Investigators say they believe Morales' head hit the pavement during the attack. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

Store owners in the area were shocked to hear that the man who had laughed and joked with them yesterday had been so brutally attacked. Neighbors say he had worked as a travel agent for more than 20 years.

No one answered the door at Morales' home on Washington Drive in Merrick today.
