WOODBURY - The NYPD officer involved in the deadly shooting of an unarmed man is now facing internal charges.
Police say Detective Hassan Hamdy, of Centereach, shot a National Guardsman during a traffic stop in Queens in 2012. He was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing by a grand jury.
The NYPD is now charging Hassan with failure to employ proper tactics.
If found guilty, he could be dismissed from the department.
