ASTORIA - ? An NYPD detective from Long Island was reportedly involved in a deadly shooting in Queens yesterday. The shooting happened during a traffic stop on the Grand Central Parkway. A driver, Noel Polanco, was shot in the stomach.

According to Newsday, officer involved is Detective Hassam Hamdy from Centereach. The NYPD says it's unclear what led Detective Hamdy to open fire.

Newsday also says Polanco had been driving erratically. A woman inside his car says police were yelling obscenities before the traffic stop. There was also an off-duty police officer in Polanco's car. Neither of the passengers was hurt.
