LINDENHURST - Police say a NYPD police detective from Long Island is accused of breaking into a Lindenhurst home earlier this month.

According to officials, 14-year veteran Rafael Astacio was allegedly caught red-handed stealing $2,500 worth of jewelry from the home.

The 39-year-old Astacio was arrested with three other men by a special task force.

A source tells News 12 Long Island that the Suffolk County District Attorney?s Office is investigating the incident. NYPD officials say Astacio has been suspended without pay.
