LONG BEACH - The fifth annual NY Surf Week kicked off in Long Beach Wednesday.
Surf Week includes a surf contest, skate contest, art show, movie premiere and other events.
Among the competitors is aerial surfer Lief Enstrom, of Montauk. He will be featured in the film “Empire Now,” which will be premiering Thursday and Sunday.
The week is dedicated to George Geiser, a Long Beach surfing legend who died after an auto-related incident in Puerto Rico in 2009. On Saturday, surfers will continue their tradition of paddling out for Geiser at National Boulevard Beach.
