LEVITTOWN - A Levittown high school senior will be going to his prom this year with some help from the New York Jets.

Michael Pagano, a high-functioning student with autism, asked a classmate at Division Avenue High School to be his prom date. At the time, she said that she had said yes to someone else.

The young woman then reconsidered and asked the New York Jets to make a video encouraging him to accept her invitation. He accepted in front of his classmates.

“I was pretty close to going to the prom by myself,” said Pagano. “I was afraid of asking someone else and afraid they would say no. It's pretty special now. It's a pretty special moment.”

The prom will be held on June 12 at the Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst.
