Nurse accused of stealing, using drugs on the job

A nurse who was supposed to be helping developmentally disabled adults at an AHRC center in Plainview is accused of stealing drugs from the facility

MINEOLA - A nurse who was supposed to be helping developmentally disabled adults at an AHRC center in Plainview is accused of stealing drugs from the facility and taking them while on duty.

Police say Theresa Pawlowski, of East Rockaway, was taking diazapam gel suppository syringes from a cabinet at the facility and injecting herself on the job. The medicine is used to treat seizures and anxiety.

Pawlowski has been charged with reckless endangerment and possession of a controlled substance.
