NORTHPORT - The Environmental Protection Agency has sited Northport Village after a disgusting discovery was made in its harbor.

The EPA says that the bay in Northport is being polluted by human waste and cites the 60-year-old storm water treatment system as a cause of the pollution, saying the system was allowed to break down, forcing untreated sewage into the bay. The report states that pipes are rusted and broken, the catch basins are clogged and not working and illegal septic tanks have been hooked up, although critical repairs and upgrades were never done.

Northport Village has six months to clean up the bay. The EPA has said that it wants the village to upgrade its treatment system and stop the pollution.
