Authorities say Whalley was in the crosswalk and had the right of way at the time of the accident.
Correa has been charged with reckless driving. Newsday reports that detectives are trying to determine if Correa was driving while impaired, or if he ran a red light.
Meanwhile, Whalley is scheduled for another operation next week.
