LONG BEACH - Some low-income families in Long Beach are receiving some much-needed help in their struggle to rebuild after Superstorm Sandy.

Rebuilding Together Long Island, a nonprofit organization, is providing both construction grants and volunteer construction workers to help families still in need after the devastating Oct. 2012 storm.

According to its website, the organization has provided "repairs to over 2,300 low-income homeowners at a pace of over 100 projects annually within Nassau and Suffolk."

Through a grant of more than $470,000 from the state, Rebuilding Together Long Island organizers say they will repair more than 12 homes destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.
