QUEENS - Jurors today began deliberating in the trial of a man accused of raping his ex-girlfriend and then framing her for a string of armed robberies.

Jerry Ramrattan is facing more than 25 years behind bars for allegedly attempting to prevent Seemona Sumasar from testifying against him. The prosecution claims Ramrattan paid off false witnesses to say that the Far Rockaway mother held up drivers in Nassau County while being dressed as a cop.

Ramrattan's attorney, Frank Kelly, insists Sumasar is lying about everything. He says she would do and say anything to get Ramrattan out of her restaurant business.

However, Jessica Louis, who was an alternate juror in the case prior to her dismissal this morning, says Sumasar stuck to her story throughout the trial. She adds that in order to accept the defense's version of events, jurors would have to discount the testimony of three separate witnesses who testified that Ramrattan offered to pay them to help set up Sumasar.

Ramrattan's attorney has dismissed all three witnesses as liars.

Today, jurors asked the judge for several read-backs in the case.
