UNIONDALE - Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano's new proposed spending plan is getting a close review.

NIFA, the state watchdog agency, and Nassau lawmakers are currently reviewing Mangano's $2.8 billion spending plan for 2013. It calls for no new property taxes, but does impose new fees on parks and some businesses, and it slashes funding to some human services like youth groups.

The Legislature is slated to pass the budget by the end of October. Because the county is still in a control period, the NIFA board will also need to approve the budget.
