CENTRAL ISLIP - A Huntington mother has been arraigned in a deadly hit-and-run.

Prosecutors say 30-year-old Nicole Grammerstorf dragged a man nearly the length of two football fields to his death. Then, they say she got her mechanic, Mark Monserrat, to help cover up the crime.

Investigators say Grammerstorf struck Luis Flores, a Honduran immigrant, then drove away. They say she took the damaged SUV to a now defunct auto repair shop in Deer Park that was owned by Monserrat at the time.

Defense lawyers say the pair didn't even know each other. Grammerstorf's lawyer says she wasn't even driving on the night of the crash.

Grammerstorf and Monserrat are charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The two posted bail and are due back in court in May.
