WOODBURY - A Mineola man arrested during Nassau County’s "Flush the Johns" prostitution sting has been acquitted.

Newsday reports that Nicholas Sisti was acquitted yesterday on charges of patronizing a prostitute. He was the second of 104 men arrested in the sting. The first man was acquitted by another judge last year, while six cases were dismissed. The 87 remaining cases are pending.

Sisti went to trial on Feb. 3. At the time, his attorney said investigators had not produced a recording of the phone call his client allegedly made to set up a meeting for sex.

Critics of the controversial sting say a lack of audio evidence is to blame for the acquittals and slow proceedings.

The District Attorney's Office tells Newsday that 10 men have pleaded guilty so far.
