NEWTOWN, CT - A new report suggests a previous mass shooting may have motivated Newtown gunman Adam Lanza.

CBS News is reporting Lanza may have wanted to out-do Anders Brevik, the Norwegian man who killed 77 people in a bombing and shooting spree back in 2011.

Lanza saw himself in direct competition with Brevik and wanted to top the death toll in Norway, according to a CBS law enforcement source.

Connecticut State Police are calling the report speculation.

A final police report on the Sandy Hook Shooting is expected this summer.
