According to a report in Newsday, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano is expected to soon name a developer for the Nassau Coliseum property in Uniondale.

Newsday reports that a committee was expected to make their final recommendations to Mangano sometime today or early Wednesday.  A news conference will then be held in Mineola at 11:30 Wednesday morning.

Madison Square Garden and Forest City Ratner are the two finalists for the plan to renovate the 77-acre property.

Both plans call for the development of an arena.  Madison Square Garden's proposal includes a surrounding entertainment complex and shops.  Forest City Ratner’s plan includes a skating rink and amphitheater.

Neither plan requires taxpayer money and both are in compliance with town zoning.
