COMMACK - The Lutheran Social Services of New York is proposing Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Commack house about 40 children who have illegally crossed the border into the United States, Newsday reports.

The church's pastor, the Rev. Dennis Walker told News 12 that nothing has been decided yet.

“We are only contemplating this…We want to be good neighbors and part of the community," said Walker.

There is no word on when the church may make a decision on the proposal.

Reports say 90,000 children will be caught trying to cross the Mexican border without their parents by the end of the budget year in September.
