WOODBURY - New York has released a list of medical and dental providers that will take part in its new health exchange.

The exchange aims to target those who haven't been able to afford coverage in the past, as well as small businesses that aren't able to offer coverage to employees.

Eight insurers are offering plans in Suffolk, and nine insurers are offering plans in Nassau. Participants will be able to choose from four levels of care, and the cost will depend on both the coverage chosen and participants’ income. Costs are estimated at between $200 and $600 per month.

Statistics show about 300,000 Long Islanders don't have health insurance now. About 130,000 Long Islanders will be eligible to buy coverage through the exchange.

Online enrollment starts Oct. 1, and insurance coverage begins Jan. 1, 2014.
