WOODBURY - Officials announced that Long Islanders who want to be city cops may have to move into the five boroughs.

Several Brooklyn lawmakers are pushing a new law that would require NYPD officers to live in the five boroughs.

The new law comes after reports that some officers posted offensive Facebook comments about patrolling the West Indian Day Parade.

Some officials think officers would be more likely to respect the city's racial and cultural diversity if they lived with it.

The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association is opposing the city residency requirement.
