FRANKLIN SQUARE - Dozens of Long Island communities are expected to get a whole lot noisier because of changing flight patterns for airplanes departing from and arriving at local airports.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says westbound planes will now be heading east over Nassau County and then turning north, instead of their usual route over New Jersey.

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray says she's worried about the new flight patterns and says she's going to continue fighting to make sure Nassau County doesn't bear the brunt of all the additional noise.

The change will be implemented beginning Thursday.
