NEW YORK - The U.S.S. Michael Murphy made its way around the Statue of Liberty today and is now docked in New York City, awaiting its special commission. The new Navy warship is named after Lt. Michael Murphy of Patchogue. The Navy SEAL was killed in Afghanistan in 2005 as he tried to save other members of his unit. Murphy was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. The U.S.S. Michael Murphy will be commissioned Saturday before heading to port in Hawaii.
