National Transportation Safety Board: Pilot David McElroy knew about faulty tachometer before deadly plane crash in Shirley
SHIRLEY - The National Transportation Safety Board says that a pilot involved in a fatal plane crash last year knew about a faulty device on his craft before it crashed.
Newsday reports that the NTSB claims that pilot David McElroy, of Orient, knew he had a bad tachometer, but failed to fix the device before his deadly plane crash in Shirley last year.
Investigators say McElroy and a mechanic told buyers his plane was "airworthy."
