WESTBURY - High school students at a Nassau BOCES school are getting to know their way around cockpits and instrument panels, all without ever leaving the ground. The students are using a flight simulator at the Joseph Barry Career and Technical Education Center in Westbury. Their instructor, John Carey, used to fly a Boeing 727. The students take turns on the flight simulator by rotating several times a week. Many of them hope to land careers as airline pilots, military pilots or air traffic controllers.
