EAST MEADOW - The Nassau Aquatic Center is expected to be temporarily shuttered by the county to undergo $25 million in repairs.

Carnell Foskey, Nassau County's Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums commissioner, says the county will be shutting down the facility from July to early next year to fix heating and air conditioning problems, and replace the pool's roof.

But before the plan gets under way, the funding has to be approved first by the Legislature and then the Nassau Interim Finance Authority (NIFA), the state watchdog agency overlooking the county's finances.
