BALDWIN - A dozen police cars, swarms of heavily armed officers and an armored vehicle raced to a Baldwin neighborhood today after a call about a woman being held prisoner, but a search of the area turned up nothing.

Nassau police say they received a 911 call just after 7 a.m. from a woman who said she had been abducted and was being held prisoner inside a home on Berkley Street. Officers broke down the door, searched the home and detained five people for questioning.

However, police say they did not find a victim, and they are now calling the incident "unfounded."

Sources tell News 12 that it may have been a hoax 911 call, or what's known as "swatting." Pranksters call in fake emergencies for the sole purpose of eliciting a massive response from police.

One person in the home that was searched has been arrested on an unrelated outstanding domestic abuse warrant.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
