WOODBURY - Officials say Peter Schmitt, the presiding officer and majority leader of the Nassau County Legislature, is set to be released from the hospital after feeling ill yesterday.

The 60-year-old county legislator was taken to Winthrop University Hospital yesterday after experiencing shortness of breath and high blood pressure.

Officials say doctors found a build-up of fluid in Schmitt's lungs.

Nassau Presiding Officer Schmitt hospitalized
