MINEOLA - Democrats came out against the $80 million in fee increases proposed in Nassau Executive Ed Mangano's proposed budget plan during the first day of hearings Wednesday.

They say it's really a 9.4 percent tax increase hidden in the Republican's budget plan.

Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams told News 12 Long Island that Nassau families are "overburdened due to enormous tax bills" and the cost of living.

Democrats say the extra cost is going toward permit fees, alarm fees and fees for pools and parks.
