GLEN COVE - Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice has opened an investigation into whether Glen Cove elementary students were given "coaching" while they took standardized tests.

Rice is investigating 18 teachers for allegedly coaching students in the third, fourth and fifth grades on 2012 state tests.

Union leader Karen Ferguson is defending the teachers and also slammed the state tests in general.

"The increased reliance on standardized testing is an unhealthy obsession," says Ferguson.
