WOODBURY - News 12 hosted a debate tonight between Nassau County executive hopefuls Tom Suozzi and Adam Haber.

The two are fighting for the Democratic nomination for county executive.

Suozzi aimed his sharpest attacks at current County Executive Ed Mangano, while Haber took the fight directly to Suozzi.

Questions ranged from the future of the Long Island economy to the proposed plans for the Nassau Coliseum site.

Both said they want to expand the property tax base and create jobs.

The latest Newsday-Siena poll shows Suozzi leads among likely Democratic primary voters with 58 percent. Haber has just 25 percent.

The poll also showed Tom Suozzi and incumbent Ed Mangano are in a virtual tie.

The primary will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10. The winner will face Mangano in November.

The debate will be rebroadcast Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
