WOODBURY - Nassau County is facing a federal bias lawsuit from four former workers who say they were discriminated against because they're Latino. The four women, who worked for Nassau's Health Department, say they were subjected to verbal abuse by their supervisors. They say the offensive comments covered everything from their food to their culture. The suit claims the women were forced to work in closets and denied promotions. The county laid them off from their positions with the Women Infant and Children (WIC) program, but the women believe they were targeted because of discrimination. The suit names the county and three of the women's former supervisors. The county attorney says the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has reviewed the case and found there was no probable cause to believe there was a violation.
