CENTRAL ISLIP - Students at the Mulligan Middle School in Central Islip are making holiday greeting cards to send to Town Supervisor Tom Croci and other members of the Navy Reserve.

Croci, a member of the Navy Reserve, was called into active duty for the fourth time earlier this year and will be missing the holiday season as a result.

Math teacher Debi Cavanagh says she thought of the idea because it is a kind gesture for the men and women serving who are unable to see their families during the holidays.

The school has so far created more than 600 cards.

Organizers say Croci is expected to receive the cards in a few days.
