MTA toll, fare increase takes effect

The MTA's new toll and fare increases took effect Sunday. It will now cost an extra quarter to take a city bus or the subway.

LIRR riders will now pay 4 percent more on a one-way ticket.

WOODBURY -  The MTA's new toll and fare increases took effect Sunday.

It will now cost an extra quarter to take a city bus or the subway.

LIRR riders will now pay 4 percent more on a one-way ticket.

Tolls have also increased on the city's tunnels and bridges.

The extra revenue is expected to help close the MTA's $15 million budget gap.
