NEW YORK - (AP) - Jay H. Walder is resigning as chairman and chiefexecutive officer of New York's Metropolitan TransportationAuthority.

The MTA said in a statement Thursday that Walder had informedGov. Andrew Cuomo of his intention to resign on Oct. 21.

He will join the MTR Corporation in Hong Kong as chief executiveofficer.

The company operates rail services in Asia and Europe.
