Mother of missing NJ woman still waiting for answers

The mother of missing New Jersey prostitute Shannan Gilbert says it gets more difficult each day to believe that her daughter is going to come

ELLENVILLE - The mother of missing New Jersey prostitute Shannan Gilbert says it gets more difficult each day to believe that her daughter is going to come home, but that she is still hopeful.

Mari Gilbert says she watched as Suffolk officials identified another set of remains today, but once again they were not her daughter. Gilbert's disappearance last year sparked the initial search along Ocean Parkway, leading police to the discovery of the first set of human remains in the area.

Gilbert says it's been frustrating waiting for answers and that investigators have been tight-lipped, keeping her in the dark about developments in the case. She also says that if it wasn't for her persistence to search for her daughter, the bodies of four other prostitutes would not have been found.

She says she has formed a friendship with the mothers of the other prostitutes whose bodies have been found and identified. Gilbert says they all keep each other updated on the latest in the case.
