LINDENHURST - A new high-end clothing collection sold at Long Island department stores that appears to be inspired by prescription pills is drawing plenty of criticism.

The "Capsule Collection" by the Italian clothing company Moschino is being sold at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue.

The items sold include dresses, cellphone cases, pocketbooks and backpacks – each covered in colorful capsules.

Anti-drug activists and the families of those who lost loved ones to addiction told News 12 Long Island that they were "furious" and demanded that the stores pull the "Capsule Collection" from its shelves.

An online petition is calling for a boycott of the department stores carrying the fashion line. It has garnered 1,500 signatures so far.

Moschino pointed out to News 12 that there is a piece in the collection that references the "Just Say No" antidrug campaign.

"There was never any intent to promote prescription drug abuse," the company said in a statement. "We are disheartened to hear that there has been a misunderstanding of the underlying theme of the collection."

News 12 has confirmed that Nordstrom will no longer be offering the "Capsule Collection" online or in their stores.
