SHIRLEY - Officials rescued more than 80 animals yesterday that were discovered living inside a home on a residential street.
Upon entering the two-bedroom home on Malba Drive, officials discovered a baby bull, seven goats, a pig, dogs, cats, birds and rats that were among 16 other different species.
Officials say among the 72 living animals that were rescued, there were a dozen dead as well.
Officials evacuated an elderly woman who lived in the home. Friends tell News 12 Long Island she recently became ill, but for years, volunteered in the humane society.
The SPCA is investigating how this all happened.
Officials say the grandson of the elderly homeowner who has been living at the home has been cooperative with the authorities. Animal cruelty charges in the case may be imminent.
