BAY SHORE - The windows on more than 20 cars were broken overnight in Bay Shore.

Police say cars were damaged on multiple streets, including Smith Street, Reddington Street, Center Avenue, Manatuck Boulevard and North Clinton Avenue.

Authorities say they believe someone went around shooting out the windows of cars with a BB gun around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"At this point it doesn't appear that anyone was specifically targeted," says Deputy Inspector William Doherty. "It may have been a person or persons riding through the area shooting out windows in a random matter."

Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
