HEMPSTEAD - New charges have been filed against a Hempstead man already implicated in three home invasions during the Sandy power outage.

Artie Jackson is now accused of attempted murder and rape. He allegedly broke into two homes in Garden City and one in Hempstead while homes were in the dark last week. In one instance, police say Jackson punched a 50-year-old woman in the face, choked her and sexually assaulted her.

Jackson is being held without bail.
