Montauk fisherman Donald Alversa, 24, dies after freak accident in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA - Officials say a freak accident killed an East End fisherman working off the coast of North Carolina.

Montauk fisherman Donald Alversa died yesterday when a wire snapped onboard the fishing boat he worked on. According to Newsday, the wire hit the 24-year old's neck.

Alversa was airlifted to the hospital where he later died.
