MONTAUK - Some Montauk residents are pushing for new restrictions on drinking at beaches in the area.

The Montauk Citizens Advisory Committee is recommending a law that would ban alcohol overnight at the downtown beach from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The committee says that young visitors have been drinking on the beach before and after going to local bars.

The Town of East Hampton is already considering several code changes to prevent unruly crowds.
