Mom hit with harassment charges over Little League dispute

An East Meadow mother is being accused of threatening a Little League official and his family after her son didn't make a summer baseball travel

MINEOLA - An East Meadow mother is being accused of threatening a Little League official and his family after her son didn't make a summer baseball travel team.

Police say Janet Chiauzzi wrote to an official of the East Meadow Little League and his family, even writing a letter to the principal of the school attended by the children of the Little League official alleging child abuse.

Child Protective Services was called in to investigate the claims against the Little League official, but found no evidence of abuse.

Some neighbors are hoping the allegations against Janet Chiauzzi are a big mistake.

"She is a wonderful person. I know her - our kids grew up together - I can't believe it," says Anita Barry, of East Meadow.

Chiauzzi has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated harassment and stalking.
