SMITHTOWN - A Setauket doctor who disappeared after going fly-fishing on Labor Day has been found alive, and a police dog is being credited with saving his life. Police have spent the last four days searching the wilderness at Smithtown's Caleb Smith State Park for 76-year-old Dr. Jerome Nadler. A Suffolk police K9, named Chase, picked up his scent today on a small bottle of fishing lotion. Officials say the dog darted off through the park's heavy brush and thickets, found Nadler in a marshy area, and laid down next to him. Authorities say Nadler was able to speak coherently when they reached him, although he was covered in bug bites. His family says he has been taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center for treatment.
