NEW HYDE PARK - A Merrick father says he has his quick-thinking daughter to thank for saving his life after he had a heart attack.
Doug Oggeri, who has a history of heart disease, was shoveling snow last Thursday when he collapsed and started having a heart attack.
His 18-year-old daughter, Colleen, called 911 and quickly started administering CPR, which she learned about three years prior.
"I thought of my dad not being at my graduation, at my prom, and I thought I couldn't lose him," she says.
For the next month, Oggeri will have to wear a "LifeVest" that will jump-start his heart in case it stops beating. He says thanks to his daughter, he's been given a second chance at life and he won't be taking anything for granted.
