WOODBURY - A memorial service is being held today for the Nassau County police officer killed while responding to a crash on the Long Island Expressway Thursday.

Joseph Olivieri, 43, was struck and killed by an SUV near exit 35.

James Ryan, who officials say caused the accident Olivieri was responding to, has been charged with drunken driving, vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

Ryan was released on $120,000 bail yesterday.

Memorial services for Olivieri are being held at the Ronkonkoma Fire Department tonight and tomorrow. A funeral is scheduled for Monday.
